Poetry Forum on Nov 16 at Lopez Museum and Library
How fundamental is poetry to human life?
Find out on Saturday, November 16, as poets Allan Popa, Vincenz
Serrano, Mark Anthony Cayanan, and Adam David discuss the necessities
of reading poetry, while celebrating the works of Filipino poets they
admire.
The Lopez Museum and Library, in partnership with High Chair, hosts the
forum, “Why Read Poems” at 2 p.m.
"It is difficult to get the news from poems, yet men die miserably every
day from lack of what is found there," wrote poet William Carlos
Williams. The lecture aims to identify poetry’s place in these
contemporary times.
High Chair is a non-profit small press that seeks to promote genuine
interest in poetry in the country through print and online publication,
lectures and conversations, community workshops, and the development of
poetry-teaching modules for use in the classroom and the community.
Registration fee for the lecture is Php 120.00 (students Php 100.00) and
includes admission to the ongoing exhibit “Trajectories”.
