Arguably, the best male badminton player of this generation, Lin Dan won the gold medal in the last London Olympics in the men's singles, defeating his archrival Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia. It was big news in Malaysia when I was there since their hometown hero was playing for the gold medal! However, Lin Dan won in a very tight three set match! I think he won 19-17 in the third set! It was THAT close!
Lin Dan is reportedly a big celebrity in China - no surprise there since China is such a badminton powerhouse and millions follow the sport. He also has this habit of ripping off his shirt everytime he wins! And I'm not complaining!
