I finally saw the movie Bridesmaids today. I missed its theatrical run here in Manila since only the SM cinemas were showing it then, which is quite ironic, since the SM chain of moviehouses do not want to show any R rated movies. Not that Bridesmaids is R rated but its adult comedy at its best.
It would be easy to pitch the movie as some kind of The Hangover for chicks, but the writing is so sincere and heartfelt, it does not actually copy the Hangover format. It's more like Sex and the City of the Midwest. I really enjoyed watching it! Melissa McCarthy deserved her Oscar nom and Kristen Wiig also deserved her Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. Yes, the writers also got an Oscar nom! I told you, it really seemed like a chick wrote this - just check IMDB - methinks it was Kristen Wiig and the 'bride' in the movie who wrote it.
Actually, it will be reshown again around 2:30AM today so I'll definitely be catching the first part, which I missed hehe
