Book Review: Susan Orlean's The Orchid Thief

In 2002, Meryl Streep and Nicolas Cage starred in this inventive movie, Adaptation which was loosely based on this book by Susan Orlean called The Orchid Thief. Imagine, I found this book in an SM book bargain bin!! That's what makes book browsing in these places really exciting! Susan Orlean is so freaking lucky to have Meryl Streep play her in this movie - and I love her writing style - loose and free, considering this book is about orchids and the Florida swamp! It presents a side of Florida so different from our postcard images of Disneyland in Orlando or Cape Canaveral or the Latino vibrancy of Miami!
