FABE Shirt Design Talk: Shirt #3
This is my favorite among the four shirts I did this week - for obvious reasons! It's the perfect party shirt! By the way, I like the measurements of these shirts since they are quite comfortable, BUT, in the next batch, I'm planning to cut them down a bit by a half inch on both sides, including the sleeves, to make them more body fit. I just hope I won't look like a suman!
I paired the glittering silver cloth in front with a plain red cloth in the sleeves and the back. I was thinking of going all the way, but I know now that it's not a very good idea since the sequins make the cloth a bit itchy!

This shirt had that crazy leaves and flower design on front. As usual, I tempered the back and the sleeves with a plain black cloth, so I won't look to crazy or loud, because as it is, it is a bit loud! But I love the white print in the front!
FABE Shirt Design Talk: Shirt #1
I am coming up, in the next few weeks with some new shirts of mine, which I designed on my own. This is the first one, a violet number. The front part of the shirt is actually a bit of a see through and I just paired it with some left over violet plain cloth on the sleeves and on the back. I think I could make it one whole shirt using that violet cloth in the front! That would be really sexy!

Elizabeth Banks: Great as Effie Trinket
It's great to see a character like Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games. I have not seen a character with such a colorful personality personifying it literally in how she wore her clothes. I admit, when I first saw the trailer for the movie - and showed a dolled up Elizabeth Banks - I knew the movie was making a statement about the leadership of the government of Panem. Soon of course, as you see the movie, you get to discover the excesses of that place which is personified by the over-the-top clothes and really colorful palette of the Effie Trinket character. I love it! This early, The Hunger Games is already a frontrunner in my Best Costume Design Fabe-lous Film Awards later this year! Let's see how other movies fare!

Lovin' Velvet Clothes
I read with amusement an article today, entitled, "Real Men Wear Velvet", which profiled an actual exhibition in the Philadelphia Museum of Art entitled "The Peacock Male: Exuberance and Extremes in Masculine Dress" because I am too, a lover of clothes in velvet. I remember the first velvet pants I wore, way back in my college days, was by Romeo Gigli, and I loved it! Had it for the longest time. Nowadays though, my velvet-y clothes are mainly my tracksuits and hoodies and they range in color from gold (yup - I am Puff Daddy!, lavender, royal blue, silver and mauve). Problem is, I can't wear them regularly because in the hot tropical weather of Manila, velvet can be hot and uncomfortable - so "naghahanap siya ng okasyon" as they say in Tagalog.
