Movie Review: The Stylish Thriller "Chloe"

I don't know why I missed this movie during its theatrical release.  I love it!  I watched it last night on HBO and I was hooked from the very first scene.  It's shot in a very lush, luxurious manner with beautiful lighting, and beautiful people.  I learned later it was Toronto and I admit I fell in love with the city!

Amanda Seyfried is just glowing here and ethereally beautiful.  And so is Julianne Moore!  I mean, I don't think her husband would be looking around if his husband were as beautiful as she!  As for Liam Neeson, whew, sexy as ever, to think he did this after the death of his wife, Natasha Richardson.  Their son in the movie, Max Thieriot is also very cute, and he gets to be shirtless many times too!  Sayang, I missed the theatrical run of this one, it would've been eligible for some of the awards last year, tsk tsk

The Game of Throne's Kit Harrington

One of the DVDs that I am sure to buy as I visit my favorite DVD store this weekend is the first season of Game of Thrones.  My friends have been talking about this show for the longest time but since I seem to never have the time to watch TV, I just depend on watching the whole DVD collection instead!  One of the hot guys being featured in the new second season is Kit Harrington, another sexy British gentleman! I wish I had hair that long! Would be very hard to maintain though but well worth trying to have!

Remembering the Anita Hill Testimony in HBO's Confirmation

With all the hullabaloo about the DU30 rape remark, there's a wonderful HBO movie called Confirmation which you should watch which shows how difficult it is for women to publicly complain about being sexually harassed.

It's currently being shown in HBO at different times of the day.

I was still in college when the Anita Hill controversy happened so I wasn't really able to follow what happened.  All I remember was that it backfired against Anita as the "men's club" gathered to rally with their man.

Clarence Thomas used the race card using the sensitive word "lynching" to win the American public's favor, but unfortunately for him, the movie slants a bit towards Anita Hill and makes you see who really was telling the truth.

And this movie is a public document that will last forever.  In the end, pigs get the ignominy that they deserve.

Denzel Washington's Movie 'Flight': My Most Favorite TV Show This Week

Two great movies shown in HBO top my TV show listings this week.  Denzel Washington's Flight is my most favorite TV show this week.  I wasn't able to watch this movie in the cinemas but I was engrossed watching due mainly to Washington's fantastic portrayal of an alcoholic pilot.

Meryl Streep's classic movie, Bridges of Madison County, comes in at #2.  I also did not see this movie in the cinema so it was such a treat watching it, even though the pacing was a bit slow.

Denzel Washington: Amazing in Flight

I wasn't able to watch the movie Flight in the cinemas when it was shown here in Manila. However, I caught a screening of it on HBO and I was very impressed with Denzel Washington's acting!  I remember he got an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for this movie and deservedly so.

His character was just slowly descending to a grand mess and there was nothing that could stop him, and his dependence on alcohol was making things worse.  It was great to see Washington play a flawed character - not the usual heroes that we are used to seeing him play.  

Don't get me wrong, this character is a hero but not the perfect one because he's hiding some critical flaws from the public.  I love the direction of Robert Zemeckis as well.  Keeps one entertained throughout the movie.

Tina Fey, Paul Rudd Movie Admission: My Most Favorite TV Show of the Week

It's back to movies again as my most favorite TV show for the week.  This week, it's HBO's Admission which gets the number one spot.  I love the movie!!  It's actually an eye-opener especially that we see how a top Ivy League school like Princeton accepts its freshmen for the year.  There is a love story behind this and it's kinda cute.  Paul Rudd has always been cute!

A True Blood Season 7 Episode: My Most Favorite TV Show For the Week

My most favorite TV show for the past decade, True Blood, returns with its seventh and sadly, last season.  I think I missed some of the earlier episodes since there are things missing in the puzzle of the first episode I saw this week.  

In this episode I saw, the town of Bon Temps is being invaded by this group of rogue vampires who kidnapped some of the main characters of the show!  Even if there were some missing pieces in the story, I still enjoyed the episode and the show is still as entertaining and intriguing as the first time I saw it.

The Leftovers is another interesting HBO show I watched this week.  It's about a community where a group of people just disappeared after a calamity.  Essentially, the characters in this show are the ones leftover after that catastrophic event.  

The first episode I saw featured the town fighting with this group of people who don't speak!  Very intriguing!

#3 - HBO - The Village

This is the M. Night Shyamalan movie which I enjoyed but has a very funny premise.

The epic women's final in this year's French Open is my most favorite TV show this week!  T'was great to see both Maria and Simona really fight for the prize!  It has been rare to see such fights in the women's game lately, especially in the finals of the slams.

James Ransone: How to Make it in America

I was watching an episode of HBOs How to Make it in America tonight and a new character caught my eye.  The actor's name is James Ransone and in tonight's episode, he does the shrooms with Lake Bell and they were so hilarious together while they were so high!  I don't know though how his character plays out as the season continues.

 

 

Enlightened's Season Final Episode Still My Favorite Show This Week

It's a pity that HBO canceled Enlightened. I really enjoyed their second season and it would've been interesting to see what would've happened to her after that whistleblower affair.  It's a feisty finale for this show and I will miss Laura Dern, her Mom, Mike White and all the other quirky characters in this interesting series.

Laura Dern's Enlightened My Most Favorite Show This Week

            HBOS' Enlightened is my most favorite show this week as the show coasts into a dramatic second season finale.  It's one of the best episodes of the show though and it's really sad that HBO has decided to cancel it.  Anyway, that's life.  At least we enjoyed this gem for a while.
