This piece of art is entitled Hirinugyaw sa Hinilawod. I am not familiar with what it means since it's in a Philippine dialect, but the work of art is pretty stunning. It's a big piece of work, around 5 feet by feet.
And what makes it more interesting is that it is made of hair! Hair is placed and painted on the canvas. You have to take a closer look to see what I mean.
Anyhow, we are not allowed to touch it so one can just figure it out through sight. It is a pretty ambitious piece of work and it really depicts the concept of a barangay - from where the word balangay has evolved into.
This piece of art is currently being exhibited in the Cultural Center of the Philippines as part of the 'Balangay' exhibition and the artworks are by the students of the Philippine High School for the Arts.
