Sharing My Daily Prayer

Everytime I get up in the morning, the first thing I do is to pray the rosary.  After that, I recite this prayer and the funny thing is, I don't remember now how I found it. All I remember was that, soon as I found it, I immediately had it printed out and kept it in my prayer book.  I have since been praying it everytime!  I love its theme wherein we give complete surrender to God in all our endeavors and allow Him to work his love for us.  I am proud to share with you this prayer, and I hope you can use it in your daily meditations -

O Lord God!  I did what You asked me to do
I just opened windows
Wide....
Wide....
And You did all the rest!
You poured into my heart
A blessed, blissful contentment
You saturated my mind
With gigantic thoughts of You
You struck an artesian well within me
Until sheer joy sprang forth
You led me out of the valley
Into a succession of incredible happenings
Problems which seemed insurmountable
Melted like wax before my eyes
Fears faded away like threatening clouds.

You startled me.  You amazed me
With the glory of Your revelation
It is true
Gloriously true
I have literally walked and breathed with God
I just opened windows
Wide....
Wide....
God, You did all the rest!

PRAYER:

Dear God, thank You for reminding me that without You I can do nothing.  Every perfect gift comes from You.  If I open wide my palm to manifest my total dependence on You, miracles do happen.  And so, Lord, though many things about tomorrow I don't seem to understand, remind me that it is You who holds my hand.  Tell me that I can only do so much, and all the rest is in Your hand

Thank You Lord for Good Friends

My classmates in French class have become one important group of friends for me.  When I came back to the Philippines, after jetsetting between Hong Kong in Manila for four years, I was praying that I could find a set of friends very much like the cosmopolitan and sophisticated friends I had in HK.  It was a bit difficult to find some at first, but soon as I enrolled in basic French at the Alliance Francaise in Makati, I soon befriended these guys who have now become good friends of mine.

I think one thing that links as together is that we are like-minded in so many ways, and we respect each other's opinions, whether they be abrasive or not.  They also rejoice at each of our accomplishments and we encourage each other whenever we have new projects.  Of course, one thing that really bonds us together is our love for the French language! For some of them, we started as early as Module 5, and now, we are already in Francais Superieur!  So we've really plowed through all the intermediate modules of French!

We also love to eat out and check out new places, and analyze the movies that we watch together.  Every day I thank God for giving me friends like them since it makes living in Manila much easier.

Several Cute Guys in Today's Body Combat

Since today was a holiday, all the GX classes were moved an hour earlier since all non-mall Fitness First gyms close at 8PM on holidays.  A thought that was lost on JM who arrived late for Jury's Body Combat class tonight at FF Greenhills.  He arrived 10 minutes before the class ended and situated himself at my back!  And he looked really handsome and wore a sleeveless shirt!  I hate him.  Kung kelan pa siya hindi balot, dun pa siya late!  I did catch glimpses of his sexy armpit hair, which I think he shaved so it doesn't look too bushy now.

There were several cute guys in the Body Combat class today, all situated towards my right and my back!  How lucky can I get!  The first one was a regular and he's usually towards my left but today, he decided to be on my right.  He has chest hair which is cute and although he is short, he really has nice bushy armpit hair!  Then the second guy came with another regular cute guy (who I suspect to be gay) and I think he's new to the gym.  Nice armpit hair too and by his movements, I could surmise it was his first time in the class.  He had that lost cute look! Nice!

One of the BC guys I sponsored last year was in the gym too and I can't believe I forgot his name now!  He called me out during Body Jam and we chatted a little bit.  And then I was elated that during the last song of routine, he joined me and we had a lot of fun doing it together! He's cool!

The steam was sira so everyone was in the sauna, nagsiksikan!  No particularly cute guys there tonight, just the usual gay cruising set, and not particularly cute.

I did see the chinito hunk whom I did weights last week shirtless.  Very nice body and pink nipples. Yum yum!  And we were together again in the sink area, and I don;t know why he was lingering there. Could he be gay too?  Nice!

The hairy chubby guy was in the Body Balance class too today and I did want to ask Rei how to do that back hand stand but was again too shy to ask.  My bad!

My Goals for the Week: August 29, 2010

1.  I want to lose some of the fat in my gut since the recent pics I had show a little flab in front - so this week, I plan to cut my food intake by 30-50%.  Difficult to do but if I set my mind to it - not an impossible task.  I'm already at 202 lbs so I want to go down to 199 lbs by the start of next week.  I will keep the mental picture of that actor last night who is a mature guy but has a great body.

2.  Attend mass everyday starting this week, visit the Blessed Sacrament and say the rosary.  Try to prioritize the mass over other stuff, if possible.  It's going to be a bit tough since the US Open will start today, but if there's a will, there's a way.

3.  Limit my sweets intake to maybe just one pastillas a day, just for this week.  Or maybe substitute it  for fruit like a guava, apple or banana.  I really want to make it to 199 lbs by next week.

4.  Write one French essay everyday, translated from the existing archives.  Difficult to do but has to be done if I want to start my own French essays library!  I have to schedule time for it!

5.  Read 30 minutes of fiction or magazines a day.  These things are piling up on my desk!! So to get rid of it, I might have to devote some time to reading it.  I have to finish Annie Proulx book too!

6.  Implement my new workout plan. Excited to do it!

Now that I've posted my goals for this week, let me see which of them I achieve success in next week!

Thoughts on the 2009 Golden Globe Winners

Since I saw my first televised Golden Globe awards in 1997, I have been a regular viewer of this show every January of the year, thanks mainly to cable and Star World. I have been a keen observer of the Oscars since I was in Grade 7 and have based most of my movie choices since then on the picks of the Academy voters. The GGs are a good bellweather of who makes it into the Oscar’s race and it helps narrow down the possibilities in a usually open field like this year’s race.

Kate Winslet finally gets two! It is quite shocking to know that with all her wonderful performances, she has never gotten any major acting award – not an Oscar, not a SAG award, not a GG. Arguably the most talented actress in her generation, it was just fitting that this year, she bags both of the acting awards for the women – one in a supporting role (The Reader), the other, in the lead role (Revolutionary Road). Both movies though, will still have to make it here in Manila, so I think I’d have to fly to HK first during the Oscar season since they usually show all the major nominees. I have seen the trailers for both films and they don’t show much her acting range. With Kate, you’d have to see the whole film so you can empathize with the character she is playing. She was last nominated for Best Actress, in “Little Children”, I think, 2 years ago, and we loved her in that, we even watched it twice and bought the DVD too! It helped that the lead actor there was such a hunk too and there are some very hot sex scenes, hahaha! Also, watch out for the climax, you’ll really cling to your seats!
