I Wear Indian Garb as Mama Shops for Their Fabulous Beaded Fabrics

It was a pity I wasn't able to photograph the fabrics Mama bought.  They were ALL so beautifully crafted and beaded and they definitely looked fabulous when draped on the body!  As our Hop On Hop Off bus winded along the busy Chinatown district, Mama spotted this building which had many mannequins in Indian women's dress.  She said she wanted to go and see that.  I, on the other hand, wanted to see the Indian temple in Chinatown!  It was  a bit weird that we were looking for things Indian in Chinatown and not in Little India!  So we went down the station and headed for that building.

The fabrics were quite reasonably priced but I suggest you haggle hard since they are willing to give you a good price for it!  For example, one six-meter fabric cost RM210 (Php 2849.79) but Mama haggled it down to RM60 (PhP811.48).  In her next buy, she was able to haggle another beautiful cotton sari cloth from RM110 (PhP1,487.96) to just RM40 (PhP540.07)!!  I asked Mama not to shop so much since fabrics are heavy to bring so I told her to just buy enough that we could carry around comfortably, since we were still in the Hop On Hop Off tour!

The whole store named Gathayiri occupies two huge floors and it had offered many choices and if you have money to burn and you love Indian fabric and clothes, this is the place for you.  The store seems popular among the Indian populace since it had several branches in the different cities around Malaysia.

Since I waited for Mama, I had my own fun too wearing Indian garb, and the male sales person gamely assisted me!  It was wonderfully beaded too but it was not stretch cloth so it was difficult to wear it haha, he had to assist me to take off the shirt!  It was also warm and I don't know how it would wear outside the oppressive heat of KL or even India!  Kulang na lang actually is the turban to complete the look!

By the way, the temple I wanted to see was just right beside it!  Great coincidence!

My Look For the Keane Concert

Like Will Ferrell (he said this in an interview with David Letterman), all my clothes are in a queue where I have to wear the next shirt in line and just pair it with the appropriate color of pants or shorts.  This way, I get to wear ALL of my clothes and none of them get special treatment.  Of course the queue is longer for the t-shirts since the long sleeve shirts and the shirts with collar are only used for Sunday mass or for events like concerts.

So, for the Keane concert, I had to wear a long sleeve shirt since the airconditioning inside the MOA Arena is quite cold!   So I had to wear this Calvin Klein sweater in this shade of green.  Thankfully, I have my favorite pants in a shade of green - AND - my favorite pair of Bally shoes - in yeah, a shade of green!  So, it was a 'green' concert for me while watching Keane!

I Want New Bling-Bling!

While I was dressing up for my BFFs birthday dinner last Friday, I noticed that I am already running out of bling blings to wear!  I opted for the gold chain we bought at Jo in Greenbelt 3 and the Swarovski Phantom of the Opera which Vic gave to me on a Bangkok trip.  It truly complemented the black Philosophy shirt I was wearing!  I love the softness of the Philosophy shirt - t'was perfect!

Oh well, on my next shopping trips, bling bling will be one of my priorities!  Preferably the really chunky ones!

A Loud Party Shirt for Nicki Minaj's Dance Party

Vic was amused when he saw the shirt that I decided to wear to Nicki Minaj's concert.  Of course I had to wear something loud since Nicki has been known to wear loud clothing herself - including all those colorful wigs that she dons.  That's actually a FABE shirt which I made for myself - so it's really the only one in the world.  I paired it with my comfy Calvin Klein jeans and my uber comfy Sanuk brown sandals.  Wearing the sandals helped a lot since we were in the standing area so I did not feel tired or uncomfortable throughout the show - even if I danced through most of her songs.

My Look for the David Cook Concert

Ok, I have like a hundred concert t-shirts since I always buy a shirt everytime they sell concert merchandise.  Just for rememberance!  So today, I decided to wear a vintage Madonna Re-invention Concert t-shirt for the David Cook concert.  I like wearing that shirt since it's pretty comfortable.  I was actually only wearing shorts to the show since I came from the gym and my hardworking Fil

My Look for The Barber of Seville Opera

I decided to wear an original FABE long-sleeved polo shirt to The Barber of Seville opera.  Since I'm pretty strict with my merry-go-round style of using my clothes, that polo shirt was the only logical choice I had to wear for the occasion mainly because its fit was perfect and it was comfortable even if the place had poor ventilation - not that the CCP had poor ventilation.

Also, I decided to wear another original FABE green pants for this occasion.  This one was garterized so I was pretty comfortable with the fit - not having to worry about my belt or something.

I wore my favorite Gucci green shoes to complete the whole look.  I love that shoes since it's pretty comfortable!

Nicki Minaj and the Snootiness of Opera Fashion

Vic was incredulous when he saw me wear a Nicki Minaj t-shirt for the opera last night!  Of course, I brought something more suited for the occasion but it would've been great to see how the others would react if I did wear the shirt!  E nagsuot nga ako ng green Brasil Brasileiro shirt sa opera house ng London dito pa kaya! Nothing like wearing a shirt with 'Brazil' on it for all the dirty old gays to come out of the woodwork!

Opting For the GQ Look During th -ber Month Party Season

Now that I am a bit older, I think I'll be opting for a more subdued classic look this coming party season.  It's still a few months from now but I think I'll choose a more GQ look than the gaudy dramatic look I've always done before.  I still have to do some research though and find out what's happening in the fashion world and just adopt what suits my personality.  Maybe a few copies of the GQ rag should help!

Interestingly, I have learned the hard way that buying the classic look really works because it lasts forever!  Trendy looks appear dated after a while and I have a bunch of stuff I may have to donate now since they look, well, dated!

My Look For Today: December 9, 2011

Today, we went around Trinoma mall since their classes were suspended due to rain.  We also went to see Richard Marx's concert in Araneta Coliseum.  Anyhow, since it was raining, I wore a sleeveless jacket from Zara - the blue striped one and underneath, I wore a fitted Adidas shirt. The shorts I got from a tiangge in Divisoria.  It's quite comfy really and only costs 100 bucks!

My Look For Mike Posner's Show in Trinoma

For Mike Posner's show tonight, I wore a black shirt with some sort of scarf design in front from Heist - a brand which the store People Are People carries locally. Since it's just plain black, I paired it with a vest I got from Paul Smith.  The design is intricately sewn into the vest.  It's one of my favorite Paul Smith pieces that I have!

My Look For the Train Concert

This was my look for the Train concert tonight.  Why I wore something too gay for a band that has no gay street credo?  No reason really except for - it was next in line to wear - in my closet!  This floral shirt is actually from my own FABE collection and is one of my favorite shirts since it's very comfortable.  It also photographs well, as you can see.  Well, one thing true about me is I'm no shrinking violet when it comes to wearing it loud and proud!
