As a Filipino, I believe that our very own Corazon Aquino should've been given the Nobel Peace Prize for leading the peaceful 1986 revolution, but anyhow, I am still happy that now, the Nobel Peace Prize committee is now awarding the prize to more women. In fact, this year, they gave it to three women!
One of the winners is Tawakkul Karman, who has now served as one of the faces of the Arab Spring - this movement for democracy and freedom all across the Middle East. I admit I am no expert in Middle East affairs but seeing that countries there like Tunisia and Egypt and now Yemen and Syria are demanding for freedom and democracry - it is good that women like Tawakkul serve as one of their faces so that women in that region also can contribute to the growth of their nation, since by stunting them, a lot is lost in those countries.
