Restaurant Review: Cafe Elements and Its Hearty Servings of Meat Dishes

Since there have been many new boutique hotels being built in the Timog-Morato-Scout area these past few years, I have decided this year to try the restos that these hotels house.
It was not uncommon for us before to hie over to Makati and dine at the restos of Intercon or Shang or the Peninsula lobby so I thought, why not do it in the smaller hotels near where I live. They might be hiding some resto gems.
So last night, I picked Cafe Elements in Brentwood Suites, a relatively new hotel near my place. Surprisingly, the orders had a lot of meat in them - something which I could not find in many other restos now - tinitipid ang servings para mas malaki kita.
But last night, I was immediately full because there was just so much meat to digest on, from the beef stew to their kare-kare and their lemon chicken.
And, we almost had the place to our own! We even had a bossa nova live band to serenade us! We really need restos like this since we can be a bit talky and rowdy and taking pictures now and then - something which you cannot do in a mall restaurant without other customers complaining.
The service though was a bit slow last night. I think we waited for more than an hour for all the food to arrive! Naubos ko tuloy and cookies which our good friend Honey baked for all of us!
Oh well, I did not let that slight hiccup ruin my night since we had time for fun conversation anyway.

The Knick Knacks In and Around Provenciano Restaurant

The Provenciano restaurant had these quaint knick knacks in and around their well-lighted, well-ventilated dining areas.
It helped that their food was yummy as well since it reinforced the Ilocano vibe that they were aiming for.
If you have foreigner friends who are brave enough to eat local food and panghimagas and who detest the mall culture, you can bring them here. You can also take a walk along Maginhawa street and discover what else the neighborhood can offer your intrepid tourist friend.

Lovin' the Macarons at TWG

I am now a big fan of TWG!  Had dinner there twice already and I've enjoyed the experience.  Too bad lang they don't have a QC branch. Sad....

Loving Lugang Cafe

Two of my friends treated us for their birthday at Lugang Cafe SM The Block last week and I really loved the food!  Everything was so tasty!!  The ambience too was nice. It wasn't a busy night when we were there so it was ok even if we were a bit rambunctious and makwento.  It was after all, a birthday party!

I'll definitely go back to Lugang Cafe again, although I heard from my friends that even in SM The Block, there is always a queue to get in.

Restaurant Review: Rediscovering How Good Italianni's Service and Food Is!

The last time I ate in Italianni's previous to this one was in their Shangri-la Mall branch and the food there was just so-so.  And it's been years since I ate in Italianni's. I guess we just decided to try other restos.

So I was very happy and a bit surprised that they still had good service and delicious food!  This time, it was during my friend's birthday party in their Trinoma branch!  Next time I want some Italian food, I will definitely visit their Trinoma branch since everything my friend ordered tasted really yummy!!

I don't even know the names of the pizzas and the salads that she ordered but they were different from each other that maybe I should just pick and try when I am there!  I'm definitely going to visit the place since my experience there was just great!

They even gave some of my friends fee ice cream since it was their birthday!  How thoughtful!

Expensive Food at Mango Tree Bistro

My friends and I always pass through the Mango Tree Bistro in Trinoma everyday since it's on the way to the parking.  Now I know why it's rarely full.  Mahal pala siya.  We ate there tonight and our bill reached around 720 pesos each for a party of five!! And the servings were not so big pa! Talo! Tapos, somebody sings around 8PM which makes it hard to make conversation! You have to shout if you want to chit chat with your friends.

Discovering Barcino in Rockwell

Rockwell is not really my favorite mall because it's just a bit far from where I live in QC and there are not that many shops there that suit my taste and budget.  However, my friends brought me to Barcino Rockwell which is really a wine and tapas place and I had a great time just hanging out there! It's just the perfect alternative to hanging out in a swanky coffee shop since I can stay there to drink some affordable wine and eat some delicious finger foods.  My friends said it was bigger and better than the other Barcino's in Greenbelt and the Fort.  Also, the waiters are pretty helpful in recommending the wine and the food!  Great, another new place to hang out while I'm in Makati!
