LV Shoes and Clothes are Finally Here in Manila

Like many young people, I went through a phase of shopping craziness and when I learned that LV finally opened at Solaire, I immediately checked it out because I have been waiting for more than a decade for an LV store to open here where they had clothes and shoes in their merchandise.
When I used to live in HK, it was easier, since their store in Pacific Place carried a wide array of clothes and shoes - and it was easy to check the new summer/spring/winter collection every time they came out.
Understandably, since this branch caters to a largely mainland Chinese clientele, the merchandise is aligned with their tastes - a combination of subdued colors to wild animal prints!
When I was there, an elderly Chinese gentleman was trying on a fiery dragon silk shirt - which was a standout amidst the sombre colors their merchandisers have picked.
Even the shoe collection is pretty safe - siguro the red sneakers lang ang medyo out of this world - but since its price is the same as that of Giuseppe Zanetti's crazy shoes - Kay Zanetti na lang.. , .l,
Just to piss myself off and remind me how poor I am right now, I decided to try their blue silk shirt (PhP78,000) and this really soft baby deer leather jacket (PhP212,000) and boy did I love I how looked!
Yes, I am thinner now, I can fit into their XXL, which surprisingly they still have! Maybe the fat Chinese high rollers haven't won big yet.
It would have been more of a kick if I took a photo of myself and put #OOTD and #Sothishow300kclotheslooklike!
Pero I didn't, baka maban pa ako sa branch na eto, lol!

The Abstract Expressionist Works of Jana Benitez

The Abstract-Expressionist paintings of acclaimed Filipina painter Jana Benitez are on display at Solaire.
These are supposedly distorted human forms, go figure! Or I may be wrong, as this may be a part of another of her collections.
She did her Fine Arts studies at Brown U. Interesting, may FA pala dun? For Laura. Yun lang, no scholarships ata dun....

Art Series: Battlestar Galactica Painting

This painting is really huge like 18 x 10 feet and from afar, looks like splotches of orange and other colors.
However, when you go near, you will see this fantastical creatures and the whole thing looks like some sort of Battlestar Galactica, where alien beings are fighting with each other.
It's like a one big comic book!

Abstract Paintings Series 1: Different Shades of Grey

This hotel resort has many abstract paintings on its walls and I've noticed that each part of the resort has the collection of paintings from a particular abstract artist.

This first series features a painter (I wasn't able to get his - or her signature) whose work features different shades of grey done with varying geometrical figures.

Finally Been to Solaire

Every time I park at the MOA Arena car park to watch a show there, I could see the Solaire Casino and Resort Hotel across but since I don't care for gambling, there was just no reason to go there.

Until last night, when I was lucky enough to see the Naked Eyes concert there in their Grand Ballroom! Parking is free and spacious and there were many people inside! I'm just glad they're stepping up their entertainment portfolio, since not everyone gambles. Air Supply is performing there on the 11th so more 80s folks trooping to the place next week......
