Clubbing Observation #2: Men Now Wear Make-up!

During my clubbing over the weekend, I noticed that many of the young men in the club were wearing make-up!  Not that I have anything against it, I guess I'm still adjusting to the idea of it - a young handsome straight man putting on make-up.  Nothing fancy, just some foundation and concealer to hide the pimples or blemishes common to young men.  I guess I just noticed that their faces were too perfect and smooth and when I looked closer, yeah, I think they have make-up on.  Good for them!  I just hope they're not more vain than their girlfriends!

Clubbing Observation #1: Objectify the Men Too!

I went clubbing over the weekend, and in the club I went to, they hired two women to gyrate on the DJ's booth while the men in the audience could redirect the green lasers and point it to the women's butts and boobs.  This was a straight dance club and the men were shouting 'Take It off, take it off' at the ladies'.  Well, I didn't want to be a party poop but I was just wondering why it's only the men that should have all the fun.  Why don't they also put two hunks on the DJ's booth so the gay men like me, and all the ladies that night can point the lasers at the guys nipples and butts while we shout 'Take it off, take it off!'  Why should the men have the fun all to themselves?

Clubbing At Eivissa!

I know I shouldn't be clubbing anymore with a mostly 20-something crowd but for me, it never gets old. I guess I inherited Mama's love for dancing, so if I get an excuse to do it, I will - and since it's the Christmas season - I will go clubbing as often as I could now - since the atmosphere is quite festive nowadays! I have been clubbing with Jenny since I was 18 and all the good dance clubs were still in Makati. So much has changed ever since but the energy and the music continues to seduce and enthrall even up to this day. I had to go out dancing tonight with a little pain on my left knee but I wouldn't miss it for the world! In the 52 weeks in a year, I think I only went out clubbing about twice this year - a really dismal figure!!

Clubbing Observation #1: Dressing Up 'Young' for Clubbing

In Manila, it's easier to dress up when you know that the venue is in Makati.  I'd just get my sleekest or most colorful long sleeve shirts and I'm fine.  It's a bit different in Quezon City.  Since it's a suburban city, people are more laid back when they go clubbing.  Unfortunately, my mother never taught me to be laid back when I dress up, especially for clubbing.  If I go laid back, that just means I'm depressed or I don't care for your party or I'm dying of cancer.  If I don't make the effort, then I'm dead.  Simple as that.

Anyhow, I had a feeling the habitues of Club Eivissa would most likely be very young people - and I was right!  So don't wear your sleek long sleeve shirts or anything colorful.  I didn't want to wear a t-shirt, even a collared one - that means I'm lazy.  So, I decided to wear this red ensemble, which made me look like a KFC manager with a nice tie.  At least that look, made it easier for me to blend with people half my age!  And it worked!  The club's fotogs kept taking pictures of me and my friend!  That's when I knew I was dressed right!  But the challenge to look young but not ridiculous continues!
