I
am not really an ichthyologist but outing Nemo and his fish brethren
can easily be done if they were placed in this aquarium for studies in
finding the homosexual gene in fishes (what purpose in science that
could contribute, I wouldn't be able to fathom). Pag palaging naka face
towards the glass si Nemo, confeermed!
My high school buddy, Marin Escudero and his beautiful wife, Ai, brought Mama and me to this interesting restaurant called South Seas in Subang Jaya, one of the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur. There were many different fishes and sea creatures placed in these huge aquariums. You just had to pick out what you wanted to eat and they will cook it for you - very similar to our Dampa restaurants here in Manila, although here, we don't have the huge aquariums.
Among the gods inside the Sri Mahamariamman temple, I am only familiar with Ganesh, the elephant god. His head is that of an elephant but the rest of his body is that of a human being. The temple actually has only one wall on the rear side. It has no walls on its side and in the front. You can enter the temple and rest a bit - well, some of the tourists sat down and rested, some even took a nap. Mama and I though went ahead and took pictures!
Kuala Lumpur's weather this week was definitely hotter than here in Manila by a few degrees but it can be schizophrenic as well, just like here. Around 4PM as we were winding our Hop On Hop Off tour, it suddenly rained! It was drizzling a bit while we were at the Merdeka Square but after 10 minutes and a few pictures under our belt, the rain poured hard! Kainis!
Pity really as it would have been great to have photos nearere those landmarks there. I forgot their names but their unique colonial architecture was definitely worth some photo op! I also would've wanted to cross the river to Masjid Jamek, this old mosque, but it wasn't meant to be. The rains had other plans for us.
By the way, merdeka is independence in Bahasa Malaysia. It's a huge square - an open space and there's a large TV on the farther side. It is flanked by different buildings which had nice colonial architecture which the city has preserved. You won't see these buildings in Manila, sob sob, although that railway station looked like Manila City Hall.
