Eat. Sleep. Chat. Repeat. Weekend!

Bought A 56-size Suit At Celio!

It's getting tougher and tougher for me to buy clothes off the rack since I'm really getting fat. The weight I have now is actually the biggest I've ever been and I feel like I'm going to free fall to 300 pounds soon!

Anyway, the jacket I'm holding there is one of only three off-the-rack jackets that actually fit me in the whole of Trinoma!

Even the beautiful XL shirts from Zara made me looklike a Buddha  Sayang, the designs pa naman fit my personality.

Like most people with imperfect bodies, Debenham's is the only shop that makes us feel thin!

Thanks Kat for being my devil's advocate! I actually loved how the jacket fit my shoulders and tama lang din ang length niya. I wanted to avoid the baggy 90s look kasi!

Celebrating the Bounties of the Earth

We went to two separate farm properties this weekend and I was amazed at how fertile and bountiful our land truly is!

Salog!

When I worked in Cagayan de Oro two decades ago, one of my co-workers called me 'salog' because everytime I rode a car or a bus, masandal lang, tulog na agad!  While other people found it hard to sleep in a moving vehicle, it was very easy for me - which made me not a good candidate for being a passenger when someone is driving!

Dancing With the G-Force Poppers!

Two weeks na naman of hip hop classes, this time with the GForce Poppers!!

Cheme and Kim are just two of the four teachers I will have for this batch!

Falling In Love with St. Francis of Assisi Once Again

Thank you Lord for generous friends like Nina!! Their place in Tagaytay is the perfect place to relax and commune with nature and God! They have a beautiful statue of St. Francis of Assisi in the grounds which could help one reflect on one's level of wanton materialism. If the beauty of the surroundings can't wean you away from your Ipads and Iphones even for an hour, then you really have to 'stop and smell the roses'.

Seeing Tagaytay in a New Light

For the past few years, I have lived in different homes in Tagaytay, but this is the first time that I've stayed in a house which truly captures the essence of what a house in Tagaytay should be like. Rustic and homey were the first things that came to my mind. Equitable also came to mind as most sections of the house has generous views of the majestic Taal Volcano. Uncluttered because if it were our house, things will be competing for space and attention. My room is spare and has minimal furnishings but it is complete with everything I need, and compleat because each item there serves a purpose! I guess the first lesson I've learned from this short vacation is to unclutter my life, and I could begin with my own room!

Anyway, more of my friends will be arriving tomorrow it's I'm looking forward to a weekend of laughter, stories and more juicy stories!

Finally, Something That Can Help Me Say No to Sugary Drinks!

My closest friends can attest to my huge daily sugar consumption (whether it be sweets or drinks!) Thanks to this girl's school project, I don't have to think twice about ordering water every time I eat out! Kahit yun man lang matanggal sa diet ko, malaking tulong na.
And I am writing this while eating a HUGE chocolate bar!! 52.5 g of sugar daw sabi ng label.......

A Picture of Two Titans

OMG, I've always had a crush on this guy for ages! Yet I've never seen him perform live!! And to be beside an actress whom I've seen grow as an artist since I saw her in the TV series Holocaust when I was just 7 years old - wow, what an amazing photo!! These two artists inspire me everyday to be the best in what I do!

The Jodie Foster movie The Brave One: My Most Favorite TV Show This Week

I was just channel surfing when I chanced upon one of Jodie Foster's old movies, The Brave One.  Funny thing is, I watched this movie in the theater years ago and it did not make a mark on me.  Until this week! I was so riveted with the movie and what Jodie Foster's character was going through!  She was so good here and I also love her interplay with that handsome actor, Terrence Howard.  I was really hooked into the movie so much so that it becomes my most favorite TV show this week.

Here are my ten favorite TV shows for the week ending April 18, 2014 -

#1 HBO - The Brave One

#2 Diva Universal - Law and Order SVU -throws cop off the roof - solitary confinement

Robbie Rogers: Football's First Gay Superstar

I was watching this TV series and it talked about how important it was to be the first gay anything who came out.  And the other person asked, why if you were the second?  The first person said, nobody cares about who came out next, that's why the first is always important!

Well, Robbie Rogers is football's first gay superstar and he's not bad looking!  Could possibly draw some gay men to actually watch football!

Inspired to Dress Up Again Due to David Gandy!

I think SM really mean's business when it hired David Gandy as its model for its SM Menswear department.  Funny thing is, I don't know any of my male friends actually shopping in SM for their clothes!  However, he is one hot model who really looks great in anything he's wearing!  In a way, he has inspired me to look good once again.  I have been pretty lazy to dress up these past few years!  Maybe not as dapper as David but at least, just making the effort to not look like a kargador!

Ross Hindmarch: My Favorite HOM!

I have some pieces of HOM underwear and they're quite comfy!  However, I am nowhere near as hot as Ross Hindmarch, who is now the face of HOM underwear!

Jamie Dornan: From Calvin Klein to Fifty Shades of Grey

It would be safe to say that Calvin Klein model Jamie Dornan is already on the road to stardom.  If he can do justice to the role of Christian Grey of the uber-popular book Fifty Shades of Grey - his slot in the A-list of male actors is sealed.  I actually haven't read the book yet but all my female friends say it's really salacious!

Movie Review: The Ravishing Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine

Although Cate Blanchett's character in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine is heading towards a downward spiral, I couldn't help but gush at how regal and tall and beautiful Cate was in the movie (even though she had a lot of breakdown scenes!) and how sleek and sophisticated her character's fashion sense was.  If I were a woman, that is exactly how I would dress up - understated but very elegant and sophisticated- but of course, I would have to have Cate's really slim and tall physique to pull it off!

What I like about this Allen creation is that unlike most movie heroines, she is as flawed like the rest of us and even though she tries her best to regain her footing after her free fall from the top, it is precisely those faults that hinder her from coming dangerously close to a full blown nervous breakdown.

While I was watching the movie, I told myself that this could have been easily a Forbes Park wife of a corrupt government official, who finds herself losing everything after her husband gets caught!  It actually reminded me of Napoles sans the glamour and beauty of Blanchett's A-star wattage - but the gist of the story remains.  These are bad people who did bad things to ordinary people - people who just looked away when the stealing was happening!

This is also the most Filipino-like movie made by Woody Allen!  The concept of family and the constant battle between the have and have-nots made me really wonder why a movie like this has not yet been made for local consumption! Iza Calzado or Angel Aquino could easily essay the role since it really has to be a classy lady on a free fall.  I was actually thinking of Hilda Koronel in her younger days.  She would've been perfect for this role.  Less histrionics, that steely resolve not to show one's wounds even though one is hurting so much.

I also loved the fact that Sally Hawkins, Louis C.K and Andrew Dice Clay were given meaty roles in this movie, even though their roles were smaller.  Andrew Dice Clay can act!  Unbelievable!! Even Louis C.K. had to play a cad here and I think he did a good job in it!!

Book Review: South of Broad by Pat Conroy

In the mid-90s, Barbra Streisand directed this Oscar-nomiinated movie called The Prince of Tides which Pat Conroy wrote. Just like this book, South of Broad, which I just finished reading today, the major characters in the movie had to keep some terrible family secrets close to their hearts - secrets which left their psyches terribly scarred for the rest of their lives.
Pat Conroy's South of Broad still has that theme, but in a much broader scale. This is a quintessential book about the south, specifically Charleston, South Carolina. Because of this book, I am actually curious to visit that city and find out how much of the Southern gentility and reputed aristocracy is true and which is fiction. Incidentally, when I was reading this book, I watched Gone with the Wind in TCM again, and yes, that movie had a setting in Charleston, where some of the major scenes featuring Rhett and Vivien Leigh were shot. Their proud Southern bearing coincided perfectly with how the characters in this book were described as well! That helped me better understand how it was to be an American Southerner at that time.
This book has so many dramatic moments which I think a 2-hour movie won't be able to tell. If this was adapted it would play better as a miniseries - to give justice to all the rich, complex and tragic characters Pat Conroy has created. I tell you, this book never has a dull moment, as the twists it gave me sometimes made me shake my head with incredulity! Yet, it can happen and those incredulous moments can actually happen in real life! So just free your mind when you read this book, and immerse yourself in the proud and rich characters of the American Southerners!

Teejay Marquez: Coverboy of FABE Third Issue

It was great to see Teejay Marquez last night during the FABE Summer Party!  We didn't really expect him to come but when he arrived around 11PM, we were beyond ourselves in asking for his photo op and asking him to autograph the third issue of FABE magazine, of which he was the cover.

He was very gracious and accommodating, very nice and incredibly cute!  I just had to copy these pictures of him shirtless from his Twitter page!  He's so hot!
