It's Time to Shed the Pounds

I just weighed in today and I was a whooping 216 pounds!  Oh my God!  How scary is that?  I guess I have let go once again!  Anyhow, starting yesterday, I have stopped drinking softdrinks which I am addicted to!  I drink cream soda almost everyday.  That would have to stop for now.  Ditto for Oreo biscuits and the church biscuits I buy everyweek, plus all the chips I love eating while I'm writing.

I was wearing this nice black ensemble yesterday and my belly just dripped below my belt like overflowing ice cream - it felt terrible.  My belly alone and the shape of my face will tell if I have lost weight, but for now, goodbye sweets that I love so much.  Sunday will be my only cheat day for the week.  Otherwise, suffer!!

Fitness Talk For Guys In their Forties

I bumped into an old friend in the gym today, and our chat eventually bordered on how we've been trying to desperately keep the fat off.  And I just told him simply, that it's impossible, and the best we can do is just work out regularly, watch what we eat, and just let nature take its course.  Being forty is not the same as being in our twenties anymore.  And then he gave a big sigh of relief.  He actually still had the body he had when he was younger.  He just added a little mass here and there, usually brought about by aging, but to me, he still looked great.  Not 20's great, but 40's great!

He said though that there was no use competing with all the other beautiful younger guys in the gym with their easy to sculpt bodies.  Oh yeah, I told him.  We had our time, this is their time, I said with a smile!  And anyway, I told him, being forty has not actually decreased the attraction from 20 year old guys.   It has even doubled, which is weird, I told him.  When I was in my 30's, even late 30's, I didn't get that much attention from them.  But now, I can easily get a date if I wanted to be bad.  Must be my money, I joked!

When My Self-Esteem Just Reflects What I See On the Weighing Scale

Last Thursday, a friend whom I haven't seen in four eyes just blurts out to me in a mall, that I've gained so much weight since he last saw me - which of course caused such a maelstrom in my mind!  I wanted to smack him right then and there, but maybe, he was really telling the truth.  Even my baby knows how sensitive I am when it comes to matters of my weight.  He has scolded me many times that I shouldn't really worry if I grow too fat because he will still love me no matter what!  And I know it shouldn't really stress me out but the truth is, it still does.

Anyhow, one of the models I worked with last year, told me at dinner tonight, I lost weight since I last saw her - which again made me happy!  This battle with the bulge has never really been easy for me, especially that when you reach your forties, the metabolism just seems to stop!  Oh well, we all have to work with what we get and be smart enough to work within its limitations - that's what I've learned from makeover queens Trinie and Susannah!  So there may be bulges here and there, but there are smart ways to hide them, and just accentuate the positive things in my body.  The weighing scale will always be my daily watchdog - to tell me if I have to stop eating too many sweets, or maybe do an extra class so I can enjoy that pizza I so crave for!
