JM De Guzman: Boy Next Door at the Gawad Urian 2012

Siguro kung nagkaanak ako, ganito siya kagwapo. 'Chos lang talaga! Anyway, while I was plodding through Amnesia Girl I didn't notice John Lloyd much and whoever the girl was in that film (tingnan mo, pag girl, no register - interchangeable kasi mga mukha nila!) The guy who I actually noticed was this guy in the picture. Everytime he was on the screen, I was just freaking mesmerized. After we got out of the theater, I asked my friend who he was and he said, oh, that's JM de Guzman. My friend didn't like him kasi he like mestizos. Pero me, I love moreno chinito guys. Definite yum yums for me!! Of course, a year later, JM already had a TV show in ABS and lots of freakin' girls shouting for him when we were in Trinoma.

The only reason also that I had this picture was because JM was the guy beside me in the cubicle in the men's room. He was sneaking out after the awards (they all freakin' sneak out!!) but since katabi ko siya, wiz siya ligtas. Actually, kung may cubicles lang yung toilet ng AFP Theatre, malamang dun na siya pupuluting hubot' hubad, 'chos!!

Paul Smith, Burberry, Gucci, Dry Black and a dash of Divisoria

Out of a set of three ensemble clothing I prepared tonight, Laura picked this one!  She has always wanted me to wear black for an inexplicable reasons!  So tonight, since I didn't want to go there in just a plain black Burberry shirt and Dry Black skinny jeans, I placed my Paul Smith vest on and topped it off with a bowtie I bought in Divisoria!  And I picked my black Gucci glasses to complete the look!

I think I can pull off an all-black outfit!  I just might have to choose my accessories wisely!

In the Presence of Greatness: Bienvenido Lumbera - National Artist for Literature

If I only had 1/100th the talent of this guy, I might be able to finally write that novel in my head!  But since God gave me other gifts, I can only look with admiration and a bit of envy at what poets, critics and writers like Bienvenido Lumbera can do!  He's definitely one of the pillars of contemporary Philippine literature - and that he used his pen to fight the mighty Marcos dictatorship - shows that he's one of the reasons why we are enjoying our freedoms today.  He's a living National Artist mind you and I was so honored to be able to have a photo op with him last nigh!

I really sought him out last night because I believe we should celebrate our writers and glorify them - otherwise, we would be a country without a soul.  He's a very amiable person and if only I took lit subjects in UP, he might have been one of my professors.

Venus Raj, Angel Aquino: Gawad Urian 2012 Pictures

I am going to show to you the pictures by batches.  This was in the first part of the program where they were presenting the technical awards.  Rody Lacap won a Lifetime Achievement award for Cinematography.  The list of the films he DPed for seemed like a Best Picture list for local movies!

Venus Raj and Angel Aquino were very good hosts though!

Paulo Avelino: Gawad Urian 2012 Best Actor

While I was on a date in CPK Greenbelt October of last year, Wansapanataym was showing on their TV sets and the scene was of this handsome guy swimming laps around the pool.  The director (obviously gay) showed ALL his best assets that only a gay man would love to see.  I asked my date if he knew the guy and he said it was Paulo Avelino.  I was an instant fan - that's why I watched 'Aswang', Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa and Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.  Imagine shelling out 200 bucks for those movies!!  And of course - all those Bench pictures came out later......

Anyhow, I saw Paulo loitering in the car park tonight, so I called out to him and asked for a photo op!  At least I had no competition from screaming girls!!  About an hour later, he was proclaimed Best Actor in the Gawad Urian Awards for his film Ang Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa, a meditative film about love and dance and poetry - a movie which is right along the alley of the critics and academic voters of the Urian.  Well, I do hope he has a long career.  In this age where ABS-CBN rules everything, talented actors like him will only get to act in crappy movies.....so going indie is where they will get their challenges as an thespian.....
