Too bad that a movie who had actors well worth the bite - had no bite at all. Yup, the 'aswang' in me would've loved to sink my teeth into Paulo Avelino and ditto to Lovi Poe (if I were straight) but sadly, even with Jerrold Tarog at the helm, I went out of the theater experiencing no fear or dread, at any point during the movie. And that's a bad sign for a horror movie!! Ditto for the poor audience who had to endure this movie during its last full showing Thursday in SM MOA. A guy at my back even simulated a loud snore twice during the movie to signify his boredom. And there were some snickering towards the end as the aswangs were just casually shot to death. Hmmmm.......a bullet could kill an aswang? Have we confused our own local horror fiends with the Hollywood zombies?
Well, save your hard-earned money and pass on this. Even the DVD version. Times are hard. Even the supposedly hyped love scene between Paulo and Lovi was well, boring. Aren't they supposed to be in love? This was supposed to be forbidden love, right? Where's the passion? No wonder all the kids are trooping to see Bella and Edward these next few weeks. Just seeing those guys look at each other is worth the price of the ticket of the movie!
