It is with interest that I read today that the island of Samoa has now reverted to the time zone of New Zealand and Australia. Interestingly, before this, Samoa has aligned its time with the US! I think the decision of their government to do so, is just logical since people fly from Australia and New Zealand to Samoa, and not usually from the US.
I also learned today that countries are free to choose whether the dateline passes to the east or west. Well, with Samoa's decisions, all maps now are incorrect!
