Movie Review: As I Lay Dying
I didn't understand anything the dad was saying but otherwise, all the other characters were pretty interesting - especially the young boy! And even if James Franco tried his best to look like a poor peasant from the American south of the 1930s Depression-era - he just couldn't hide how sexy and studly he was, especially in his close ups! How could someone so handsome be so cerebral! The ending though is very funny but a bit disturbing.......

127 Hours: Visually Stunning and Surreal
I am not surprised that the Oscar voters chose this film as one of the best of 2010! It is visually stunning and the soundtrack is fantastic! Action in half of the movie just happens in one place but I never got bored or felt claustrophobic about it. Simon Beaufoy and Danny Boyle are very skillfull storytellers and I'm sure the book version of this would be more serious and plodding, but this movie is definitely not. It just moves the story along and allows the viewers like me to reach a denouement and realization in the end. Finding out how Aron Ralston moves from being this kind of person to another type of person is fasinating to watch. That scene where he kept saying, 'This rock was waiting for me my whole life, the moment I started life on earth'.....really shook me. It made me reflect on my own life too.
Anyhow, I didn't know that the last 10 minutes of the movie was going to be bloody! I was really squirming in my seat. I did try to cover my eyes with the towel I brought, but it made things worse since I could hear James Franco and my imagination was giving me all these gory images!
Well, that part of the story is probably the most provoking but also the most liberating, at least for Aron Ralston. His will to live under such very difficult circumstances is incredible! He certainly lived life dangerously but at least he is living it under his own terms.

Movie Review: 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' Ridiculously Exciting and Fun to Watch
Well, James Franco is the only reason I decided to watch this movie. And he doesn't disappoint. James Franco always looks sexy to me, even if he does not undress - and he does not even age in this movie - although the script says 11 years have passed!! Funny!
A movie with lots of chimpanzees and apes and orangutans in it can slowly descend into a bit of a comedy - and this movie almost descends into that. It's good that the lead 'ape' only had two lines, otherwise....
It's fun watching this movie though. Lots of apes jumping and screaming and there are many action scenes - the only reason I did not fall asleep. It's also enjoyable to watch since you're waiting what the apes would do since the title did say something about their rise.
Grab your popcorn and watch this in the moviehouse! No need to analyze anything here. Just enjoy the apes and how they put one over the San Francisco police!

My Oscar Pick for Best Actor: James Franco - 127 Hours
Ok, ok! I am voting with my loins! I have always had a crush on this guy since he came out in Spiderman. So now that he has finally done a film that pleases the academy, I choose him as my Best Actor this year. I haven't seen Colin Firth and Javier Bardem yet (except on their movies' trailers). Jesse Eisenberg plays Zuckerberg to a T and Jeff Bridges is just amazing in True Grit. But my eyes and attention was just transfixed at James Franco in 127 Hours. I was just rooting for his character to hold on and not give up. He really played the gamut of emotions in this movie. I know he's a longshot to win but in my book, he's my winner!
