What I Had to Do Just to Watch the Latest Nora Aunor Movie!

I finally told Mama that when I was a young teenager, I would sneak out and go to the city on a Saturday to watch the latest Nora Aunor movie!

I would tell her I have to be in school for a certain project, but instead, I would take the bus from our quaint mining town in central Cebu at around 10AM, be in the city by noon to have lunch and catch the first showing, then take the 4PM bus back to our home in the boondocks.

Gosh, I was such a bad teenager!

However, thanks to Cinema One, I finally saw one of her best films, Ina Ka Ng Anak Mo. This movie kasi came out kasi when I was still a kid.

I also only realized now why that is the title.

I think it's supposed to be P****g Ina Ka ng Anak Mo. You'd have to watch the movie to understand why.

Finally, I saw the "Hayop, hayop" scene - a perfect acting exercise for wannabe actresses.

Mike de Leon's Movies at the UP Film Center

If you're a fan of 80s movies, two of the films of esteemed director Mike de Leon, will be screened at the UP Film Center this Wednesday evening.

One of them is a musical!

Zac Efron Still Delish in The Lucky One

Although he looked like he was perpetually constipated onscreen, Zac Efron still looked certifiably delish in The Lucky One - another film adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel.  The story of this movie is not very complicated though so Zac doesn't do much here except be helpful, flirt with Taylor (Schilling) and be an overall nice guy.  Not quite a stretch from his High School Musical days.  He also doesn't get to sing here.  I guess, at this stage of his career, Mr. Efron wants to be a leading man - a part which I think suits him.  Don't worry ladies, he gets down and dirty here and pair that with his perpetually "I am in anguish" look - I'm sure none of you would be able to resist cuddling or giving him a hug!

Taylor Schilling: She's The Lucky One

This is the first time I've encountered actress Taylor Schilling.  It does seem like she came from out of the blue and snagged that coveted role as Zac Efron's squeeze in 'The Lucky One'.  In my opinion, she does get pretty lucky in her role here since she has several kissing and love scenes with Mr. High School Musical himself!  Taylor is a competent actress and she imbues her role with the enough emotion to keep us interested in her problems.

A Good Wedding Reception Events Place: Le Parc Event Hall

This is the third wedding event I attended this year.  The wedding reception was held at the Le Parc Event Hall at the Blue Bay Walk at the EDSA Extension.  It's a good place to hold your wedding receptions.  The place was big and the aircons were all working.  It was also in a very central place, very near the Mall of Asia.
