80s Classic: An Officer and A Gentleman

This is one of my favorite scenes from this 80s classic An Officer and A Gentleman. It's not a gay movie, so you'd have to watch it and find out why Richard Gere is so distraught here.  You won't regret my recommendation!

The chemistry between Richard Gere and Debra Winger was just incredible!  I guess this was one main reason why this movie worked!

Richard Gere: At the Peak of His Powers in Arbitrage

            I only realized now that Richard Gere’s Golden Globe Best Actor Drama nomination was really well-deserved!  I guess the competition this year was just really fierce that no slot was reserved for Richard in the Oscar derby for Best Actor.  Anyway, I watched Arbitrage last night in DVD and he was just plain amazing in it.  Cool, composed, shrewd, cunning, but always unruffled by the things going around him – and still aggressive and sharp when he needs to be.  That was how Richard played Robert Miller, the main character in the movie.  His work here ranks among his best ever!

Movie Review: Arbitrage Not Just Another Wall Street Movie

Hollywood has released a slew of Wall Street type movies these past few years, mainly to cash in on what has happened to the people working that type of job.  I initially thought Arbitrage would run in the same vein as what happened to real life fraudsters like Maddock.  Well, there are similarities in Richard Gere’s character and Maddock, but mainly in the fraud activities that Richard’s character does to ensure the sale of his company. 

I strongly suggest you watch the movie.  The story is riveting and there are subplots here that helps accelerate the story to reach a dramatic finish.
