The Life of David Gale: Gripping But Why I'm Still for the Death Penalty

I was channel surfing today and I chanced upon this movie on HBO entitled 'The Life of David Gale'.  I guess it was the presence of Kevin Spacey and Laura Linney that got me curious.  Kate Winslet appears later in the movie.  The movie presents a strong case against the death penalty and I urge you watch the movie to find out if the sacrifices of the characters in the movie are worth it.

However strong the argument of the movie is, I still believe that there should be death penalty.  However, it should be used very cautiously and only when there is REASONABLE DOUBT that the person is indeed guilty.  If there is just one iota of doubt, then the life sentence will suffice.  That way, if reparations have to be done, the poor accused is still alive.

Inseparable: Cool to Have Daniel Wu and Kevin Spacey in One Movie!

I am a big fan of the movies American Beauty and The Usual Suspects that's why Kevin Spacey used to be one of the actors I admired, until his acting became repetitive.  He shows a different kind of acting in this Chinese-funded movie though, with the English title of Inseparable.

Incidentally, he co-stars with one of my favorite HK actors, Daniel Wu.  Just gauging from the trailer alone, it looks like an interesting movie!  I don't think this is going to be released here in Manila, but I can always look forward for the DVD release.

Movie Review: Really 'Horrible Bosses'

Just before Pedring made landfall Monday night, Vic and I watched this hit comedy movie Horrible Bosses.  I really enjoyed watching Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey in it as they played their 'horrible' roles to the hilt! I bet you've never seen goody-goody girl Jennifer in such a nasty role before!  Here, she's no holds-barred and plays all the sex innuendoes to the hilt!  This is also the first time I've seen Kevin Spacey do a relatively 'light' role so it's a good break from seeing him in something very serious.

I also like Charles Day, the guy Jennifer was flirting with.  Maybe because it's the first time I've seen him that's why his performance sticks to my head.

Over-all it's a very light movie.  Watch Colin Farrell disappear in all that make-up!
