A Luxurious Weekend Stay at the Empire Hotel and Country Club

A vacation in Brunei would be incomplete without a stay at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, the most luxurious resort in the country!!! It was a dream come true for us to stay there since I've been wanting to stay there for the longest time, but just never had the chance! It used to be a project of one of the members of the royal family but it went pfft and the sultan opted to convert it to what it is now.

It is a much bigger version of Shangri-la Hotel Mactan including a golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. Our host surprised us by booking us two nights in the hotel!! We were ecstatic with joy! The property and its facilities spell luxury with a capital letter L and I really had a great time using what I can among the resorts activities - used the Fitness Center, swam in the indoor pool, jogged around the complex and had a dip in their jacuzzi! I also looooovvvveee their bathroom!! I wish I could convert one of our bathrooms in the house to look it! This is the perfect place to unwind for the weekend!

A Wonderful Tea Time at the Empire Hotel in Brunei

Look at the exquisite cubiertos!! I love them!!

The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong prides itself of its daily afternoon tea service. Well, the Empire Hotel here in Brunei has its own version. Our host treated us to this wonderful tea time experience and the delicious sandwiches and cakes really filled us up.

My Food at the Pantai Restaurant in Brunei

Here are some of the food I ate at the Pantai Restaurant in Brunei.  No pork is served here for obvious reasons, so I gorged on their really delicious beef, lamb and chicken!  I also feasted on their Japanese food!!  Their desserts, especially the creme brulee was delicious!

Dinner at the Pantai Restaurant at the Empire Hotel in Brunei

The door to the restaurant had these intricate carvings!  Very beautiful!

One of my favorite restaurants in Cebu was this resto in Shangri-la Mactan which was just beside the seashore. It was the perfect place to go on a date or just have a quiet dinner since the place had that laid back atmosphere, discreetly lit by candles and well-placed lighting. The Empire Hotel here in Brunei has its own version called Pantai Restaurant, which is just a few feet away from the seashore. One can either eat inside the resto or outside but tonight, we chose to eat inside.

There were many patrons, well, basically the same people you bump into in the fitness gym or the hotel corridors, this time, dressed for dinner. The place offers a sumptuous buffet so we were all pretty stuffed! One impressive interior design detail of the place are these rolls of cloth, woven here in Brunei, placed on the wall where the buffet servings are being cooked by the resto staff. I only noticed it when my sister mentioned it! Very ingenious way to present a design but sayang the cloths!
