Carlo Vergara Returns with Mula Sa Kulimliman

The playwright Carlo Vergara has brought us Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah and Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady - two hilarious plays that combines the supernatural with the real world. I love both plays and will watch it again if ever the Tanghalang Pilipino decides to restage both of them. They're just gems of Filipino theater!

He comes back to Virgin Labfest this year with Mula Sa Kulimliman - a play of a similar vein - but this time - it's the men's turn to become superheroes - .

However, like his other plays - it's a woman or in Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah's case - a "woman' - who brings the house down!

I chanced upon Mayen Estanero as she left the theater and asked for a photo. She plays the clueless maybahay of her husband and son. She plays the role with such earnestness that you can't help but love her!

Again, I will not tell much of the story. I prefer that you guys haul your ass over to the CCP and watch this one. I guarantee you it will brighten your day as both the script and the actors keep everything interesting - and guessing!

Veteran TV and Newbie Indie Actors in Virgin LabFest

It's really a pity that only the university crowd and a very few adult theatre lovers got to watch the plays I saw today! I watched Set E today and these three plays - Imbisibol by Herlyn Alegre, Isang Daan by Liza Magtoto and Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady by Carlo Vergara - had veteran TV actors like Ces Quesada and Bernardo Bernardo and newbie indie actor Junjun Quintana in them!

They were really really funny and touching and well-written and indie actor Junjun Quintana really looked hot in his briefs hahaha to think I was just one meter away from him, parang gusto ko, ako na magpunas ng duguan nyang thighs.......

Incidentally, he also won this year's Urian award for Best Supporting Actor. He actually acts like Piolo Pascual and I won't be surprised if he follows Coco Martin's footsteps. He can really act! To think ang kasama nya, seasoned actors like Ces Quesada and Bernardo Bernardo!

Congratulations also to my friend Kiki Baento! Dear, you are such a joy to watch and I hate you because you get to kiss Hans again and again and again! Ang hirap talaga ng trabaho mo dear

I was surprised to discover that I was just as tall but heftier than Repertory actor Hans Eickstein who looked commanding onstage as a superhero, complete with a Green-Lantern-like costume!

Incidentally, all these plays were from last year's batch.
