Bikini Boys Dominate White Party 2014 Manila

Well, I will just let the pictures speak for themselves but last night's White Party had so many bikini boys in it, it made the party so freakin' hot (literally and figuratively)!!  We couldn't dance so much because these boys were such a wonderful distraction! Yum yum!

White Party Turns Into A Bikini Meat Party

Well, I'm not really an expert into what happens during the annual White Party but I don't remember it being this way during my day when it was still held in the streets of Malate.

I think it was more fun then at that time, with foam showers and actual street dancing and not too many bikini boys. The atmosphere then was a group of young gay men just having fun, instead young gay men acting like predators gawking at these boys looking for a quick buck by flashing the only thing that they think they can earn money from.

An event that should've celebrated the diversity and the acceptance of the LGBT community into the mainstream has sadly turned into a bikini meat party, no different from the ones you see in the bikini men's circuit that goes around from the provinces to here in Metro Manila.

Don't get me wrong, like any hot-blooded male, I think strippers are a fun way to celebrate a party but in other countries, the stripping part would just be 30 minutes to one hour at most and the strippers would also be gay, so you'd see strippers kissing gay men or dancing with gay men, Not strippers dancing with the women in the audience - which happened last night!

There were impersonators last night (for about 30 minutes or so) yet the bikini boys just occupied so much of the time - they were there the whole night!

I think it became such a desperate situation for some of the guys that they were actually begging the patrons to give them 'tips' or to actually 'book' them for the night especially when it was nearing closing time.

Instead of celebrating love between two gay people or celebrating people coming out of the closet, ayun, nahulog na lang sa 'booking' 'booking' which is not quite a nice image the straight world would want to see happening in the gay community.

Actually, kung alam ko lang ganito mangyayari, I could've invited all my fun lady friends kasi I'm sure they'd have more fun gawking and dancing with these guys!

Discovering Katharine Hepburn, Bob Hope, Lana Turner and Spencer Tracy!

One sign of ageing! I now watch movies sa TCM.  Ewan ko ba? There's something about getting older and pining for the things from the past.

These past few weeks, instead of going to HBO first, I check on what's TCM and I've been rewarded by two great movies starring three Hollywood greats - Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy and Bob Hope - Adam's Rib and Bachelor in Paradise.

I now understand why Hollywood has such deep reverence for Katharine Hepburn - being the only actor to have four acting Oscars - and all of that sa Best Actress category pa! Ang lakas ng screen presence niya.

The movie I saw, Adam's Rib, was done in 1949 pa, yet she acted very modern and exemplified a strong, intelligent woman who can think on her own terms.

I was not lucky enough to see Bob Hope host the Oscars.  Like most of my generation, our Oscars are associated more with Billy Crystal hosting it, but I've seen enough footages showing Bob Hope host the event, since 14 times nga siya host ng event.

He can really act pala and he's really funny! He's like some sort of suave, handsome comedian, medyo malayo sa current peg natin ng comedians here in the Philippines.  Dito kasi pag comedy, associated with 'not very goodlooking stars'.

Anyway, I saw how beautiful Lana Turner is pala and also saw how Spencer Tracy really looks like.  The two classic movies were great to watch since it showed an America which was very formal - where people looked dressed up, even when they were at home! And the language of the scripts were very witty!

What I want to see actually is the movie version of To Kill A Mockingbird.  I read the book 20 years ago and I was so moved by it.  I want to see how they made it into a movie.

These Japanese films are a welcome break from all the summer blockbusters that I don't care to watch!
