If I Were To Live My Life Again, I Would......

•   Take the college course I really like.  Most likely, European Languages in UP, Major in French, Minor in Spanish, and then proceed on a Master's degree. I would worry about what work I'd get later, since I've learned now, that things just fall into place anyway/  If you're good at what you do, you'll eventually succeed both career-wise and financially.

•  Have a boyfriend in college. I only ventured into relationships when I was in my late 20's.  I was really too busy in college, working and studying, that I never found the time to socialize with the guys I was really interested in, and maybe hook up with one of the them.  Also, I was really too poor in my early and mid-20's to even think about having someone in my life!

• Join a choral group or a dance group in college.  I was just in a tough course that there was really no time to indulge in frivolities like dancing or singing on my free time.  I was also surrounded by so many extremely smart people it was really difficult to see myself as someone else! 

• Be kinder to my earlier boyfriends. I was so full of myself when I was younger - arrogant, a bit self-centered, and always trying to play the field, I forgot that I had some of the nicest and cutest boyfriends when I was younger....Looking back, I think I was really mean to them, when they were really nice and kind to me.....

Finding Pleasure In The Small Things

Because Julia Robert's movie 'Eat, Pray, Love' is showing right now, some of the local columnists have been talking about what the movie and the book has been talking about.  I came across this article by Cathy Babao-Guballa where she talked about finding pleasure in the small things.  It got me thinking where I find my own pleasure, without having to pay a cent for it -

1.  Exercising in the gym - I know it's a bit weird but I love doing Body Jam and Body Balance, so much so that I schedule my gym appointments around those classes. Almost always!  If there's no Body Jam class, or a Hiphop class, I go to another branch!  At least, that way, it keeps me going to the gym always and check my weight!

2.  Eye candy in the gym - I am just like any other guy, quite visual, so the gym is the perfect place to have a glimpse of those heavenly bodies.  I never even talk to them.  Just ogling them is fine!

3.  Chocolate - whether it be a chocolate bar, or M&Ms or chocolate biscuits, I just love munching on them!!

4.  Watching my favorite shows on TV or watching a good movie - I work almost endlessly, even when I'm watching TV or HBO or Star Movies.  If they're any good - it makes me reflect on my own life, and at least is a good way to accompany me whilst I blog

5.  Hanging out with friends - I try to schedule this at least twice a week and segue them into my schedule. I love being alone, but I try also to find time to make chicka with some of my closest friends.

6.  Making out - I'm a guy, and I love doing it!

The Dating Game: A Friendly Date Tonight

I have a friendly date tonight with Joaquin.  I met him through planetromeo and he seems very articulate and he has a nice picture too!  We will meet in a coffee shop in a mall in Quezon City.  Well, I am writing this so I can verbalize what I should do tonight so he and I will have a good time!1.  Don't talk about yourself too much. I have a tendency to do this, so focus, instead on the person.  Focus on Joaquin. Be interested in him.  Look at his eyes and make him feel important and sexy.

2.  Ask questions about him.  Be inquisitive.  Of course, focus on something light.  No politics, no religion.  It's just the first date. We can debate later.

3.  Don't talk about my ex's.  Even if he asks about them, don't talk about them.  It's the first date!

3.  If his picture really matches who he is in person, and if he looks hot and hygienic, have fun with him!  I want to see also if we are sexually compatible in bed!

My French Adventure: Reading Le Clezio's Desert Day 2 - October 7

It took me sometime to blog again about what I have been reading.  I am currently reading Nobel Prize winner, Le Clezio's 'Desert' - the French version of course, and I hope to finish the book real soon. 

Well, it's a very descriptive style of writing and the characters being described are still walking on the desert.  I think the main character in this novel by Le Clezio, is the desert herself! Here are my French words for the day -

1. franchir - to cross

Du livre:  Ils avaient franchi les montagnes par le pas de Maider.

Mon phrase: C'est impossible de franchir des Alpes.

2.  mortel - fatal

Du livre: Leurs visages portaient la marque du terrible soleil, du froid mortel des nuits.

Mon phrase: La fièvre de dengue peut être mortel si ce n'est pas traité tout de suite.

3.  longiligne - lanky

Du livre: Certains d'entre eux etaient d'un noir presque rouge, grands et longilignes.

Mon phrase: Le garcon longiligne est mon fils.

All Those Babies Who Never Had A Chance

Another baby was thrown in an 'arinola' yesterday and it really made my heart bleed.  The baby girl never had a chance.  I know I am in no position to judge the condition of the woman and the man who decide on these things but it still shocks me how easy it is for them to just throw away something as valuable as a human life.  I suggest that there should be a system where unwanted babies can be given for adoption, or that young people are given the right education so that they can self-discipline themselves everytime they have sex!  The irony is a lot of couples desperately want to have children, and on the other hand, there are couples who don't want anything to do with them. I hope their paths meet so the child won't be the loser in this situation.
